ECI 524 - Theory and Research in Global Learning
This was the second, and last class, that I took online in the program and I struggled a bit over the Summer. This course focused on global learning and the different approaches each nation takes in educating their youth. As a class, we did this through a number of activiteis that first centered aroun dhow individuals learn and then broadened to ecplise education with a global perspective.
The most exciting aspect of this course, was not just learning how different cultures educate themselves but how their cultures influences the policy decisions. A particular project that emulated this idea was the fourth engagement model that had us study maps that were drawn and designed by children around the globe. It was interesting to see how much kids think alike even though they may be separated by vast oceans and in different hemispheres. What was most enlightening was that most of the depictions were peaceful and that the world was a place without conflict.
